what makes this car special?

Small numbered limited edition cars are always sought after in the collector car world and it is rare to find them under the R 1 million level.  However, this is an opportunity to secure one such car for great value from a company with a rich heritage.

Maserati celebrated its 90th Anniversary in 2004 by creating 181 Anniversary Spyders in which 90 were made for the European market. However, only one was delivered to South Africa (number 41) and this is 1 of only 15 right hand drive examples in total. Therefore, making this a rare collector’s car.

The 90th Anniversary cars were split by the following features:

  • Anniversary blue paint scheme
  • Carbon fibre tonneau cover which rises up behind the headrests
  • Silver headlight cluster and surrounds
  • Ball polished 19 inch rims
  • Chrome door handles
  • Titanium coloured brake calipers
  • Oval fender logos that pays tribute to the 1957 F1 Championship winning Maserati 250F (driven by Fangio which sported similar badges)

Ferrari provided the 4.2 liter naturally aspirated V8 in the Maserati Spyder that produces 395 BHP. It will get to 100km/h from a standstill in 5 seconds and will reach a top speed of 283km/h. The engine is coupled to a 6 speed F1 semi automatic transmission that has paddle shifters located on either side of the steering wheel to provide quick and easy gear changes.

A Johannesburg enthusiast took delivery of this 90th Anniversary Maserati Spyder in 2005 and has only covered 33 800km since. This is a rare opportunity to secure a limited edition, numbered Maserati which celebrates the brands rich history and heritage.
