Porsche BOXSTER (987) SPECIFICATIONS
What makes this car special:
The 987 Porsche Boxster is the second series in the successful Porsche Boxster line. Design improvements over the previous generation Boxster included:
- A revised headlight design profile that resembles that of the Porsche Carrera GT
- Larger side air intake vents to allow improved engine cooling and performance.
- Redesigned larger wheel arches to accommodate larger wheel sizes up to 19 inches in diameter.
The interior improved from it’s predecessor too. There were multiple changes which included the circular themed instrument clusters and cooling vents, giving it a more modern look and feel.
The 2.7 L flat six engine delivers 236 BHP which is coupled to a 5 speed manual gearbox. However, when Porsche revised the 2.7 L engine in 2007, they have included the Variocam Plus improvement which increases the engine power output to 245 BHP, matching the Cayman, it’s hardtop coupe sibling.
The curb weight of the 987 Boxster is a reasonable 1295 kg. This together with it’s mid mounted engine and rear wheel drive configuration makes for a well-balanced, great handling sportscar which trumps it’s rivals
This engine and chassis combination gives the Porsche 987 Boxster a 0-100 km/h time of 6.1 seconds and a top speed of 258 km/h.
This example, now 12 years old epitomizes the growing base of modern classics from established motor heritage brands such as Porsche. These cars are now very affordable, excellent value for money and give an enjoyable user friendly ride with Porsche DNA.
