what makes this car special?

The Porsche 911 GT3RS (991 gen 1) released officially at the 2015 Geneva Motor Show, displaying several performance, aerodynamic and interior changes over the regular GT3 to make it a more performance orientated car. These changes include the bolted-on roll cage, full bucket seats, six-point safety harnesses, louvers equipped in the front fenders and intakes in the rear fenders to name a few. The roof is also made from magnesium in order to save weight and most of the interior inserts are covered in carbon fibre.

 

Porsche’s iconic flat-six engine has had a capacity increase to 4 litres from 3.8 which now makes 492 BHP and will accelerate from 0-100 km/h in a rapid 3.4 seconds. It will also hit a top speed of 310 km/h while providing decent stability and grip due to the amount of downforce from the improved aerodynamics. The engine is coupled to a PDK 7 speed dual clutch gearbox to ensure fast and smooth gear changes. It also has great handling assists such as the rear-axle steering and Porsche’s torque vectoring system to ensure maximum traction and grip around corners.

 

The combination of the engine and handling performance gives the Porsche 911 GT3 RS a Nurburgring Nordschliefe time of 7 minutes and 20 seconds.

 

This example was delivered new in 2016 and was recently fitted with brand new Michelin Pilot Sport tyres.
