Highlights of this example:
The BMW 2002, in production from 1968 through to 1976, evolved from BMW’s Neue Klasse 1600 models with the installation of the 2.0-liter M10 engine.
Early cars are the most desirable, with slim chrome bumpers, round taillights, and a single aluminum moulding that encircles the body.
The Tii (for “touring international” and “injection”) featured the Kugelfischer mechanical fuel injection that together with a higher compression ratio and larger valves boosted output to 130 horsepower. Together with a shortened first gear, a beefier clutch and a marginally longer axle ratio, made the Tii the sportiest BMW 2002.
To quote Car and Driver: “The 2002 is one of modern civilization's all-time best ways to get somewhere sitting down.”
This BMW 2002 Tii is a pre-August 1973 round taillight example with Kugelfischer mechanical fuel injection system. It was purchased by the current owner in March 2003 in London from the family of the 1st owner.
The Petri 3.0-litre CSL steering wheel was available as an option which the first owner chose when ordered
This BMW 2002 Tii was imported by the current owner on return to South Africa in 2004, He fitted E21-generation BMW Recaro seats, Alpina rims sourced in 2004 and an Alpina gear knob.
This example has been featured in several motoring publications and is without doubt is one of the best examples worldwide with a full mechanical rebuild over the past four years.
