Fiat 500 is a motoring icon that is classically Italian and takes its name from its engine size of approximately 500cc. The Fiat 500 “Nuova” (Italian for “new”) was unveiled in 1957 as a replacement to the outgoing 500 “Topolino”. The new Fiat 500 featured a full monocoque construction, weighed only 520kg, was powered by a simple air-cooled rear mounted 499 cc two-cylinder engine (18 BHP), four speed gearbox, rear wheel drive and a top speed of 95 km/h
In 1965 Fiat introduced the 500 F as the middle trim model and it was identified by round orange turn signals mounted on front fenders and front hinged doors and featured a new chassis, a stronger gearbox, and wider windscreen
