The Lancia Delta HF Integrale was based on the Giorgetto Giugiaro designed Lancia Delta 4WD. With the demise of Group B rallying Lancia decided that the Lancia Delta 4WD would be homologated for Group A for the 1987 World Rally championship season. After winning the 1987 World Rally Championship overall, the Lancia Delta HF Integrale was developed for 1988 and the Lancia Delta HF Integrale 16 Valve for 1989.

The Lancia Delta HF Integrale 16 Valve featured a raised bonnet to accommodate the taller 16 valve engine more power (now 200 BHP), wider wheel arches, wider tyres and a smaller Garrett T3 turbo with reduced lag

Miki Biasion won on the Lancia Delta HF Integrale 16 valves debut at the San Remo Rally and claimed Lancia’s third WRC title in a row in 1989. The Lancia Delta Integrale 16 valve is a highly desirable homologation special with a rich motorsport history.
