Maserati is a Modena based luxury motor manufacturer founded in 1914, with a rich racing heritage peaking with Juan Manuel Fangio’s Formula One World Championship title in 1957 with the Maserati 250F. The iconic Trident emblem is inspired by the statue of Neptune in Bologna’s Piazza Maggiore
The Quattroporte is a four-door luxury sedan with a front mounted V8 engine powering the rear wheels and has been part of the Maserati range since 1964 with six different series models to date
The 5th generation Maserati Quattroporte officially started production in 2003 and can be divided into three groups:
- Quattroporte V Duo Select – 2003 to 2006
Stunning Pininfarina design with the highest levels of luxury and comfort with Poltona Frau leather interior. Powered by a dry sump 4.2l V8 producing 400 hp developed and manufactured by Ferrari. Power to the rear wheel is via a robotised transaxle gearbox providing perfect weight distribution.
- Quattroporte V Automatica – 2006 to 2008
The significant technical evolution was the introduction of the smooth shifting 6 speed automatic gearbox by ZF resulting in higher levels of comfort and ease of use. The entire drivetrain was new including a wet sump derivative of the 4.2l V8 engine.
- Quattroporte V facelift – 2008 to 2013
The Facelift model featured a subtle styling update by Pininfarina and the introduction of a 4.7l V8 alongside the 4.2l V8 which was still available. Other improvements were an infotainment update and the introduction of the Sport GTS, a combination of luxury sedan and performance sports car with fixed damping, sharper handling and switchable sports exhaust producing one of the best exhaust notes in the motoring world.
