Mercedes Benz W111 Convertibles are considered by enthusiasts to be the finest built and best performing luxury GT cars of the late 1960’s. The 280se particularly in cabriolet form, has become one of the most desirable of all post war Mercedes Benz this side of the 300sl. They are the last of the true hand-built Mercedes cars and are exceptional to drive.

In production from 1968 to 1972, 5000 W111 units in coupe and convertible versions were produced and only 1390 were open top 280se’s

This Mercedes Benz 280se Convertible was purchased out of long time ownership by the current owner in 2019 who undertook a major mechanical and cosmetic restoration by respected Mercedes Benz specialists in 2022.

He added a modern touch by fitting the desirable Becker Mexico – modern retro radio model BE7948 but chose to retain the original leather upholstery which gives this example a distinguished character.

The smooth inline 6 cylinder produces sufficient power to propel 4 adults comfortably and the floor shift automatic gearbox provides seamless effortless gear changes
