Introduced in 1978, the Porsche 911 SC (Super Carrera) featured an aluminium 3.0 flat six engine and five speed 915 gearbox. The power was 180 BHP at launch and increased to 204 BHP over its lifecycle. It was built to appeal to a wider market and was a strong seller for Porsche

• A different camshaft design which gave the engine a more tractable low-end

• The 3.0L flat 6-cylinder engine with Bosch K-Jetronic fuel injection was based on a non turbo version of the 930 Turbo engine and a move to aluminum instead of magnesium enhanced reliability and ability to upgrade in the future
• Servo assisted brakes which provided improved braking performance and better pedal feel.
