The Porsche 911 SC embodies the essence of the classic 911 while offering a reliable and engaging driving experience. It is considered a perfect balance between the earlier, more raw 911s and the later, more technologically advanced models. It was built to appeal to a wider market and was a strong seller for Porsche. A big factor contributing to the strong sales was the enhanced ease of use
This was due to the following:
- A different camshaft design which gave the engine a more tractable low-end.
- The 3.0L flat 6-cylinder engine with Bosch K-Jetronic fuel injection was based on a non turbo version of the 930 Turbo engine and a move to aluminum instead of magnesium enhanced reliability and ability to upgrade in the future
- Servo assisted brakes which provided improved braking performance and better pedal feel.
This 1981 Porsche 911 SC Coupe is a well sorted example from recent long term ownership. Extensive maintenance records are available for inspection for the past 10 years showing a no expense spared approach to the maintenance of this example
