The Porsche 911 SC was introduced in 1978 and was available in Coupe, Targa, and later Cabriolet versions. The SC (Super Carrera) name was reintroduced for the first time since the 356 SC in 1964. The 911 SC is a landmark Porsche which is credited with saving the 911 model. Porsche had developed the 928 to replace it, but as the 911 SC was built to appeal to a wider market with enhanced ease of use, sales were very strong, and Porsche was convinced to keep the 911 in production.
