First launched in 2006 and based on Audi’s Lemans Quattro concept car, the R8 is a mid-engine all-wheel drive sportscar built by Audi Sport. It uses a rigid and light aluminium spaceframe chassis shared with the Lamborghini Gallardo and is powered by a 4.2l V8 with 414 BHP and an acceleration time of 4,6 seconds to 100km/h and a 301 km/h top speed. The type 42 first generation Audi R8 was available with both a 6-speed manual or semi-automatic gearbox both built by Graziano who also supplied Ferrari and Lamborghini for models such as the 360, F430, 575M, Gallardo and Murcielago
Apart from the stats above, the first-generation Audi R8 is an engaging driver’s car with excellent handling and great ride quality. This is balanced by excellent visibility, superb build quality and reliability, characteristics you would not find combined in many rear engine sports cars.
