On sale from January 1975, the Mercedes Benz W123 quickly developed a reputation for being well built & reliable. The legendary durability made the W123 extremely popular in developing countries and many view the W123 as the ultimate classic Mercedes Benz as in their opinion the quality of the succeeding models was never the same. The 200 model was powered by a 2.0l carbureted inline four cylinder engine which was upgraded in 1981 to the M102.920 which sent 109 BHP to the rear wheels via a 4-speed gearbox
Never have we come across a car that has retained its “as delivered” condition and “new car” smell as well as this 1984 Mercedes Benz 200. This example has not been restored. It has been so well preserved that when you sit behind the wheel, this car transports you back to 1984 and you feel like you have just driven this Mercedes Benz off the showroom floor. It is a benchmark for originality that restorers and collectors strive for.
The first owner upon retiring, purchased the car on the 31st of August 1984 and used it mostly to travel to church on a Sunday. When he passed away the Mercedes Benz was placed in storage and the current owner purchased it from the estate in 2013. To date this example has only covered 11 171 km
