TVR is a British sportscar manufacturer founded in 1946 by Trevor (TVR) Wilkinson. The goal was to build lightweight sportscars with powerful engines and TVR has produced some of the most iconic sportscars. The most successful period for TVR was from 1990 to the early 2000’s, under the ownership of Peter Wheeler. He produced fun V8 Sportscars such as the Griffith, Chimaera and Cerbera.
The TVR Chimaera is a lightweight two-seater roadster with a stylish fiberglass body and tubular chassis powered by a 4.0l alloy V8 engine. Weighing only 1060kg with power from a V8 boasting 240 bhp allows the Chimaera to do an impressive 0-100km/h time of 5.1 seconds with a top speed of in excess of 240km/h. The Chimaera handled this power very well due to independent suspension all round, coil over shock absorbers & anti roll bars.
The TVR Chimaera was intended to be more of a GT car rather than a raw sportscar as preceding TVR cars had all been and has a softer suspension setup and is more user friendly. The TVR Chimaera became TVR’s best-selling model with 5256 examples produced
The TVR Chimaera is a rare sportscar in South Africa with only a handful of known examples This TVR Chimaera is an early production car registered in 1993 with the 4.0 alloy V8 engine and 5 speed manual gearbox. It has only covered 39 000 Miles since new and presents very well in Non-Metallic British Racing green with the optional beige full leather interior
This TVR Chimaera is in very good condition and well known to us over the past 10 years and is an affordable and fun classic performance car for the driving enthusiast.
