How selling works:

1) Submit Your Car

Get in touch by giving us a call, drop us a mail or complete the vehicle submission form.

2) Approval / Acceptance

We accept interesting collector cars that fit our profile, and which have a realistic price expectation.
You can view the Recently Sold page on the Crossley & Webb Cape Town website for examples.

Interesting Motorbikes, Automobilia and Parts are welcome too.


3) Choose Your Package

We offer three auction listing packages to our sellers.

Basic | Pro | Custom

4) Preparation

We prepare the auction listing and arrange for photos and technical inspections (if applicable).


5) Seller Approval

Seller approves the listing and provides final confirmation of reserve price (if applicable) and the "Buy Now" price.


6) Go Live

Auction listing goes live on the website.
Typically, there is a one week "Coming Soon" period and the auction staying live for two weeks.

Vehicle Information

We need the vehicle details regarding your auction.

The vehicle's make or manufacturer. e.g.: Mercedes-Benz.
The vehicle's model. e.g.: SLK.
The vehicle model's derivative, if any. e.g.: Black Series.



The vehicle's engine type or configuration e.g.: V12.
The vehicle's engine layout. e.g.: Front Engine – Rear Wheel Drive.
The vehicle's Break Horse Power (BHP) output, e.g.: 660 BHP.

Common Seller Questions

We offer three options;

  • DIY (Do it yourself) Package: Free
  • Pro: R2,999 including VAT (Basic plus professional photography).
  • Custom POA: this option is tailored to your specific requirements using the Pro Package as a base and can include additional items such as transport, hosted viewings, and technical inspections.
  • We discuss your car with you, its condition, history and price expectations.
  • We accept cars that match our profile (collector cars with realistic price expectations).
  • You choose the package and process payment.
  • An exclusive consignment agreement is signed with confirmed reserve and "Buy Now" prices.
  • Professional photography and technical inspections are arranged if applicable.
  • Crossley & Webb - Online specialists prepare the auction listing.
  • Collector cars, and cars that touch people emotionally.
  • Cars generally older than 10 years.
  • Coupe’s, Convertibles, Classic Cars, Sports Cars, Modern Classics, limited production specials, cars from motor heritage brands (eg. Ferrari, Porsche, Mercedes Benz etc.).
  • Interesting Motorbikes, Automobilia and Parts are welcome too.

Collector Cars are cars that are purchased for other reasons than mobility. They tell a story and evoke emotions in their owners.

  • The reserve price is the minimum price the seller will accept for the car.
  • The "Buy Now" price is not the same as the reserve price and will be the best price the seller will accept for the lot and end the auction when the "Buy Now" option is submitted by a bidder.
  • One week in the "Coming Soon" section.
  • Two weeks as a "Live" auction.
  • Custom package cars can be "Live" for three weeks.
  • Although Crossley & Webb Online is a new online auction platform, Crossley & Webb was established in 2013 and have established themselves as respected Collector Car Specialists in South Africa.
  • Our team are experienced at selling hundreds of collector cars in South Africa and the online auction platform gives us the ability to assist more clients more effectively.
  • We have established relationships in the collector car community which is not serviced effectively by volume focused online listing services.
  • With the combination specialist knowledge focused on the South African collector car market and knowledge of who the collector car buyers already are in South Africa, we will get you the best price.

If your car does not sell on the online auction, your lot / car will be marketed by the Crossley & Webb Sales department at an agreed price level, based on auction data and bidder feedback, for four weeks.

Yes you can, but not within six months of the original listing going live.

No, Crossley & Webb operate on an exclusive basis during the consignment period.
